    1969 S error or ddr

    Additional Information
    Date: 1969

I have two of these Lincoln’s with the same issue in the same location. Can a die dent happen here or are they always located next to the rim. I don’t know how this occurred. It is raised. Thanks for any help answering my question.

Yes, die dents can happen in other areas than the perimeter but not sure what you have here, with the pic given. I does not look like damage, so I would think a die gouge or die dent at this point. See if you can get a clearer pic.

The first photo is the coin on this thread. The second coin is my other one with the same issue to compare.

Just a random gouge in the die.

Will, I was searching around for some varieties today and ran across this one. Do you think it could be something like this one? I really don’t have the experience to know but it looks similar.

    1999-S 1¢ Pr WDDR-001

Description: An angled partial extra column shows on the lower left side of the 7th Memorial column to the right of the statue’s knees.

Go to VVs 001, some better pics there, and compare your 69... Notice how yours has a ridge, kind of like a mountain ridge, and VVs does not... That tells me yours is a die gouge... Hope that helps!!!

I understand Jim. I just ran across that one and had never ran across something that had any similarity to what I saw on my coin so I thought I would ask. Just learning here is all. Thanks for that information.
