    1960D DDO or NOT

    Additional Information
    Date: 1960
    Variety: DDO
    Mint: Denver

Here are 2 different cents that have been heavily polished on the 1 of the date and who know where else. Lincolns chest seems to have some doubling, and his eye. There are 3 pics for each coin. Your help is much appreciated as always. Thank you!

I cannot remember what this is but there have been threads about it before. I looked but could not find anything. It was doubling from die abrasion or maybe a doubled working hub. I'm pretty sure it's a common die or working hub though, not hub doubling, the best I remember. Hopefully someone will chime in that knows.

I agree with the assessment that this is all NOT hub (doubled die) related. I see some MD, very excessive abrading, and the generally poor quality of the 1960D dies. The working hub doubling is a possibility here as well.

It looks like the mint attempted to reengrave the eyelid and jacket then polished the die???
