Struck through Die Cap? Or Damage?

Is this a struck through Die Cap or is it damage? I can tell if the weak mushy image is from polishing or buffing. I've never held a struck through Die Cap before so I'm not too sure what to look for to verify. There seems to be some sort of shiny layer in some areas. Is that paint? There is also some heavy scratches on the left side of the obverse.

    Any ideas?

I wonder what the weight is or if it is thinner than usual?

I'm concerned that there's no proto-rim. Definitely get a weight on it as Richard suggested.

Thanks Rich and Will. The lack of rim concerned me too. The examples I saw online of die cap strike throughs all had a defined rim.

I did weigh the coin and is came in at 3.0 grams.

That weight is normal. Maybe a late stage brockage?
