    1944-D DDO-1 vs VDDO-17

    This is a post for those who have, or search for, CP varieties.

    Note that these two ddos are extremely similar and careful examination of the mint mark placement is needed [sans the given markers] to differentiate the two (esp. on circulated coins). VV has only recently added #17 -- It is NOT a CP variety.

    Odd that with how similar they are, Wiles refers to one as "extreme extra thickness" and the other as "medium spread".
