It is only easy to determine one from another after seeing them many times in person. I still have to think about it when I am looking at 1960 for example; I have to go through an inventory in my mind to make sure I am on the right track.
But with so many varieties to look for it sure can be fun going through Lincoln cents!

The one think also to remember is that the motto, the date and the L of LIBERTY are all closer to the rim on the large dates of the 1974 and the 1982. Also, the 4 of the 1974 and the 2 of the 1982 are different font styles.
