Sheila sent me the coin so I could do some close-ups and get some feedback from everybody. Looking at VV's pictures, I cannot match the scratches, but their pics are not all that close enough to be certain. I also noticed that the spread on IN does not seem as strong as Sheila's. Does anybody have good close-ups of CONECA 1983 DDO-010 that we can compare it to ?

After further examination, I believe this is die #1, I'll post the matches I've found after I return from fishing

I agree with you... That looks to be VVs 001... I noticed a bulge to the NE on the O of GOD that appears to match VVs sample... Also the NW notch on the E of WE looks spot on where as on VVs 010 the bulge on the O appears to go NW and the notch on the E is SW... VVs 001 starts at Stage B and with the lack of the abrasions around the obv devices I think Sheilas' is a Stage A... On Sheilas' coin there is some debri between the tops of the letters and the rim so I can not tell if some of the small die imperfections are there or not compared to VVs 001!!!Jim

Yes, I believe so. I know he was very busy when he attributed it so let's not be too harsh. Also, let me point out the matches for die #1 that I found and see if you guys agree. It might have to wait until tomorrow as I have a school board meeting tonight that I almost forgot about

OK, here are a few of the matching markers I found as compared to VV's 001 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...983PDDO001.htm
I used a red pencil to highlight specifics if they were not obvious or I was focused on a particular scratch. One exception is picture #2, I spotted that on CC's reverse picComment

Looks to me like those abrasions, crack and die dings are matches... I think this makes a convincing case that this is Die 01!!!OK, here are a few of the matching markers I found as compared to VV's 001 http://varietyvista.com/01b%20LC%20D...983PDDO001.htm

Yeah John, that would have been pretty cool.....I was hoping my gut was wrong, the dies were so scratched I can understand how it was mis-identified....
BTW.....it's only been 5 years at most when I sold you that scope
