    1956D-RPM-001 eBay pick

    Additional Information
    Date: 1956
    Variety: RPM
    Mint: Denver
    Coneca: RPM-001
    Wexler: WRPM-001
    FS#: FS-501 (22.1)
    Coppercoins: 1MM-001
Variety Lists: LCR TOP 50 , CONECA TOP 100

I was lucky enough to snag this on for under $11.50 shipped. I can't believe it's top pop! Cha ching!! Kidding of course. It is pretty nice, just spotty. It will upgrade my only example (XF Details), and it will give me an example of the first die marriage. My other example is stage H with the BIE. This should be early stage D. The spot muddies it a little, but there is a crack to the right of the chip. The depression VV cites for stage D hasn't formed yet. Thanks for looking!

I wonder why the person that self slabbed it stopped at "only" ms-68?

I guess the black spots. Without those it would have hit 70 easily!

In reality most consider NNC coins raw, still it's a nice unc.
This hobby is full of funny stuff, I forget the story but I think the guy that slabs those did actually win top in the big PCGS coin grading contest.

Excellent pick... I am not sure which stage yours is... It may be VV has some of there images mis-filed??? The die abrasion (NNE/SSW) in the C of CENT on your coin doesn't show up on VVs http://varietyvista.com/02a%20LC%20R...956DRPM001.htm until Stage F... The crack/chip on the stock doesn't make sense between Stage D and E??? Yours does not have the depression but it does have the crack east of the chip and VVs Stage D has the depression but not the crack until Stage E and the chip is much larger??? Either that or my mind is fried today
