Answered: 1958 D Cud error?
The top hole of the 8 looks filled with copper. There are dents everywhere though, which makes it hard for me to tell.. Your experienced opinions very much appreciated.
Thanks

Thanks to your answer to my previous post, I just learned the difference between: Die Chip, Cud and interior die break.
It also looks to me like a die chip; but confusing though...
Thanks.

A cud is a die chip/break... The difference is that a cud is attached to the rim of the coin on both ends of what use to be a crack... A retained cud is when the chip/break has not fallen out of the die yet but has broken loose and shifted... Here is the link to Cuds on Coins http://cuds-on-coins.com/ It covers world coins... Here is some info from Error Ref - Cuds - http://www.error-ref.com/?s=cud Hope that helps a little... It can be really confusing at first but if I can learn it any one can
