Is anyone else having problems shooting the new 2009 and up Cents including shields? The photo's are so bright you have to almost follow a black back ground to keep the color close? I've tried to shoot yellow and Black - The black dissolves the rim and looks like a black abyss the coin is so bright. I had to slow my shutter down to 1/1600 just to get the almost red color on a solid black back ground. Anyone else trying lighting on these?
These are taken on a stand with a Nikon AF Micro 60MM lens - auto focus
I need to figure which one looks better for coins or to keep looking for something that looks more natural. These are very hard to photograph..

This is the same coin at different angles. First set is straight on shot. 2nd set is a cent thickness angle and the 3rd is 2 cent angle, no editing. Of course when you have it angled you'll have different focal points. It all hgas to do with your lighting and the angle it reflects to your lens. The last shot of the reverse is 2 cent angle with a few shots at different focal points, stacked and edited. Looks better but i still hate every cent after the memorial The angle is just me putting a cent or 2 under it to angle the coin. Man, I said angle a lot...lol Click on the picture, then click on that pic and it should should have a + to zoom in even further to get the true size and see where it is and isnt focused
You capture the cartwheel luster nicely. Smooth throat mofo. I liked him better with the Adam's Apple.
