2023 Possibly a Struck Through error

    Additional Information
    Date: 2023

I opened a box of my 2023 cents and in one of the rolls I encountered this one. At first I thought it was damage however looking at it a little closer and with the pictures, I am leaning more towards a Struck Through error. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Nice, Mitch! Looks like a retained struck through rim burr. Let's see what others say.

Thanks Jon, I guess I couldn’t get the photo to show that it is a crevice. I tried different angles to show the depth but I wasn’t able to get that across.

Are you sure? I usually use the lighting to judge whether something is incuse or in relief. Yours looks in relief (raised). Check the shadows of surrounding areas that are also in relief against the area in question. I marked up one of your pics to show what I mean. I could be wrong though, the pics are deceiving sometimes and sometimes it's just me.

Thanks Jim, at first glance it looked like damage until I got a closer look.

They always look like damage at first... That's why a closer look is needed... I also look at the coin rims before looking at the coin obv/rev as I have found errors on the rims!!!
