Answered: I don't know what caused this...

1999 Philadelphia mint cent. The fairly evenly spaced marks are raised on the reverse and have me puzzled. They run NW to SE. Are they planchet striations, grooves on the die, or something else entirely? The glossary says that it's too late a date for feeder finger damage. What say ye?

Hmmm .... That's odd since I know I've found feeder finger die scrapes on shield cents.

Edited to add: And other denominations.

Update, I reread the glossary. "Inverse die installation began in the mid 90s, but thus far there are no known examples of obverse feeder finger damage on Lincoln cents." So, Reverse Feeder Finger Damage is quite possible on your coins.
