    New bullion/eagles

The U.S. Mint is moving ahead with plans to redesign the reverses of the silver and gold American Eagles for 2021 to accommodate the use of anti-counterfeiting technology at the production stage.

Interesting article Ed! So did I miss it or did the mint say what the security device would be? Maybe it will be like the Canadian Mint textured maple leaf and some part of the devices will be textured.

Okay, thank you Ed! So... I guess after the coin is struck the Mint will use a laser micro engraver to apply some sort of anti-counterfeiting security mark somewhere on the reverse. That's pretty cool!

Very cool, thanks for the link Ed!! The Chinese Morgan Dollar counterfeits have been rampant for several years. There are hundreds of thousands of them out there and they have gotten really good at them.

Thanks for the link Ed... I am surprised it has taken the mint this long to incorporate anti counterfeit measures into the bullion coins!!!

The bummer is, it sounds like only dealers will have a way to read it to verify it. Normal buyers will not and will only be able to trust big dealers that use it. On ebay or small sales and shows we are still at the mercy of our own ability to tell what is real. The other issue is that older dates will be harder to sell because they don't have the features.

I never considered that... Doesn't sound rite to me that only dealers would be able to tell but you may be correct... The older dates I have no idea on... I'm glad you're on the little guys side!!!
