PICKED THIS UP 40 YEARS AGO. IF I WAS SURE IT WAS POST MINT DAMAGE IT WOULD HAVE GONE TO THE MELTER IN 1981. I CAN'T EXPLAIN THIS; BUT IT LOOKS LIKE SOME FIND OF STRUCK THRU.

Looks like glue.

Try putting the coin in acetone. It will not harm the coin one bit, but it may get rid of the glue.

It may be glue but to me some of the areas appear to be a die clash... I'm no pro though!!!
