This is a 56 D rpm I found a couple weeks ago in a bag of bulk wheats that I bought on ebay. I think it's rpm #001 stage h it has "bie" in liberty. Also pictured is a 58 D with the date doubled, any info on this one would be great. These are the best pics I could get.

nice find - The 1956D looks to be a cherrypickers FS-022.1 which is the RPM#1

The 58 D is MDD later tonight will post a BU 40-s with striking MDD ( no pun intended)

The BIE stage is considered more desirable that early stages by some people - nice find.

Ok, The strike doubled 58 happened when a die bounce occured. The die bounced after striking the coin. During that bounce the coin moved a little and was struck again. The flat shelflike portion of the date was made from the die scraping it.

As promised... Here are those photos of a 1940-S with strike doubling. It also has two large die cracks on left and right wheat ears.

Nice 40-s, thank you all for the input. I'm sure I'll have more questions and hopefully some pics of treasure I've found.
