While I am still finding a ton of 2010 (D) Lincoln cents in rolls, I am not finding many 2009 examples. Are they being hoarded?

Having said that, is it worthwhile to hang onto any 2009 Lincoln cents? I have several rolls of all four styles (Denver mint) @ AU+.

Then again, is it worthwhile to hang onto any 2010 cents? I have many rolls of 2010 D @ AU+ and I was contemplating dumping them at the bank, but should I hold onto them?

As far as the 2010's are concerned, it's early. They're new.

But, while many will say that you should hold onto them, I'm dumping them. Number one, they a crummy strike (or poor dies that aren't sharp), two... a boring reverse, (IMO) and three... seem to have few varieties.

Let's see what others have to say.

I have a feeling that we are not yet done finding varieties in either '09 or '10. After all, we are still finding new DD etc in '80's coins. The '10 is a simple reverse design so there probably will not be any anomalies found but the '09's are complex and I think there will be ,yet. For that reason, I'm saving all BU examplaes of each and they are harder and harder to come by in circulation.

I'm saving the BU '09's, but I'm not real crazy about all of the "log cabin" variations. (Birthplace) Regarding all of the '09's...I agree. I think we will continue to see interesting die varieties being discovered for years to come.

Fun stuff.

I like the 2010 cents' obverse. It is the same design used in 1909. I think it looks a lot better than 2009. I have also noticed they have proof like or mirrored fields. I personally like the 1915 obverse best for Lincolns, but the 1909 is much better than the early 2000's.

For some reason Im find alot of them 2010s too. All P Mint. I find a few 09s here and there but I bet I found atleast 2 or more rolls of Shield cents in the last 2 boxes I searched. I dont care for them at all, I just hope they plan on changing it before another 50 years.

People are dumping the 2010 cents by the box and they'll live to regret doing that because they might dump everything back into bank circulation. So finding a gem 2010 AU or gem BU may be much more difficult in another 5-10 years.Collectors are not slabbing them at this time.
