Wish I had a 0 - 360 degree scale... That is a fairly decent rotation... That looks close to 45 degrees... Nice find and coin!!!

That 1983 rotated die is a beauty! GRRRRRREEAAATE FIND! I've been through a zillion '83's' and that is the only one I've seen.

If the photographs show the coin as is (no 180 degree rotation of the reverse die) then the offset rotation is in the neighborhood of 135 degrees.

We are to use to seeing the reverse rotated in pictures, which makes it more pleasing to our brain. However, in this case, if the reverse started out as being inverted to the obverse as it should be, the rotation would end much great than 45 degrees.

Did you flip it top to bottom or side to side for the pics?

I was looking at the first 2 pics... Clearly the rotation is just beyond 45 degrees... Maybe in the 50-55 range... Look at the pic on the right and you can see the rotation from level as compared to the OBV... It may depend on if it is a CW or CCW rotation!!!

Nice coin. I don't do rotation coins but to ones eye that is a nice find.

Hey wait a minuet, that's more than a 45 degree rotated die. Let us try 85 - 88 degree CCW. Anyone agree?

Agreed. My standpoind would also be different. As a Machinist degres work off a 90. Other people use a different starting point. I would eyeball it at 45

Your coin seems to be " One of a Kind ". I just checked the " Rotated Die Coin Census site and there is no mention of a 1983 LMC. Why don't you submit pictures of your coin even though it is not quite 90 degrees of rotation. email: RotatedDie@hotmail .com
Good luck and nice find again. mousey

did not know 83's had a rotated die vararity - the one that is best known is the 1994-P witha 165 degree rotation.

They pop up every once in awhile. At one of the shows that I was attributing coins at, someone came in with two Washington dollar coins with a rotation offset of 45 degrees. I sent him over to Randy Campbell of ICG to have them encapsulated, which he did.
