Hello All -
It's very clear that there is a tremendous knowlegdge base here with regard to Lincoln's and coins in general.
As for me:
When I was about 10, my brother and I found a 1909 VDB in change (it was in 1976). This got me interested, as I'd never paid much attention to my coins until then. My grandfather was told about the find, and proceded to fuel my interest by passing along his "penny board" he'd started in the mid-1920's! Yes, he had the board filled with very nice condition Lincolns, except a few key dates (09S VDB & 22P), but I've since filled them in.
Now that I've nearly completed the series, I turn to you all for the lesser-known varieties and errors to search my 1000's of wheats in hopes to find.
Over the years, I have accumulated about 25,000 wheats from various acquistions. I my teens, I used to save up and buy a 5000 coin lot each summer to go through - and just saved the remainder that didn't go into the Whitman books. And, I average about 1-2 wheats each month in change - it always brightens my day to find one!
Anyway, thanks for reading. If I find anything interesting (and figure out how to get a good picture), I'll post it for the group.
Glad to be here!
