    5000th post ultimate contest

Greetings, and here is my latest contest. Identify the following classes of hub doubling from the 14 examples illustrated (12 Lincoln DDOs, 1 Lincoln DDR and 1 Jefferson DDO). There are hybrids, but try and identify the primary class (or both if you can). If you are extra sassy try and guess the date and DDO #...

To make it easier, you will find: Class I (X3); Class II (X3); Class III (X1); Class IV (X2); Class V (X2); Class VI (X1); Class VIII (X2)

    01 DDR

    02 DDO

    03 DDO

    04 DDO

    05 DDO

    06 DDO

          Jason:
You are amazing. Your dedication to this site and the hobby in general, MUST be commended. So many of us, have been "educated" by this dedication.
Where you get the time and energy to do this can only be an act of Love to this hobby. We are very lucky indeed, to have the opportunity to share in your posts on LCR
Heidi and I are very grateful for this:

Good contest! However, you got one mistake. You have the roman numeral wrong when you mention how many of each class there are:

"To make it easier, you will find: Class I (X3); Class II (X3); Class III (X1); Class VI (X2); Class V (X2); Class VI (X1); Class VIII (X2)"

            Wendell

P.S. I think I'll check for the die numbers before I post, as I recognize most of these.
            Wendell Carper
It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!

From the guy who said that he may not have time to photograph his new 1971 S DDO!

I am going to stay out of this one. Good Luck everyone!

It would be terribly unfair for me to enter this contest also, but I do want to wish all participants the best of luck. I really think this is a great educational tool as well as an awesome contest.

like bob i am not in this contest - way above my brain level - i would need to visit the "Forbidden Planet Krel brain enhancer" to have any chance of winning!

Gonna take a random guess here, but it's pretty much a shot in the dark since I barely know my Doubled Die classes....

                    I'll guess that...

                    #1 is Class II

                    #2 is Class I ---

                    #3 is a Class II+V hybrid ----

                    #4 is a Class IV -----

                    #5 is Class I ----

                    #6 is a Class I (1971P-1DO-002) ---

                    #7 is Class V

                    #8 is Class III+VI Hybrid ----

                    #9 is Class V ------

                    #10 is class VIII -----

                    #11 is class VIII

                    #12 is class II (1971S-DO-001) -----

                    #13 is class VI ------

                    #14 is class IV

(subject to editing before the contest ends if I do a little more research... )

Let's get some more guesses in here. Understanding the classes of hub doubling will help anyone looking for them as the pattern will help to know what to look for beyond just doubling...

When does the contest end? I'll try to get a few friends to join LCR and give a guess maybe...

Class aren't my strong point. It is a good lesson though. David

Maybe another week. I am more concerned with some guesses than a specific deadline...
