Hello all,

I was invited by brefos77 to join this community due to my recent purchase and better yet a recent find of a 1988 RDV-006 variety cent.

I've been collecting for roughly 20 years off and on: cents, nickels, and just recently cent varieties and errors...In the past 6 months of variety collecting I have found a 1988 RDV-006, 3 1998 wide AM's, 4 2000 wide AM's, off center strikes, and have procured a 1999 wide AM, 1998-S close AM, and a 1988 RDV-006.

Thats me..

I look foward to keeping up on the latest finds....

Edit to my post above..I fat fingered it...
That was a 1999-S close AM, not a 1998-S close AM....

First time posting. Found this forum searching the internet. Collecting for more than 50 years. Any advice on an affordable coin microscope based on your experience. Thanks

Hi Meri:

QX5 $79.00 on the internet. Easy to use, USB hookup to PC.

Does 10X, 60X, 200X. Only problem is resolution is not great.

Check out the many pics I've posted here to get an idea if you like it.

Click on any category, and follow the discussions. Try Variety ,attributions. Look for posts from me. I have posted many pics.

Some 10x, 60x and 200x. Some other posters have even better pics.

Shingpumps pics are great. I'm not sure what he uses.

You can go to members list and click on them to go to thier profile. From there you can view thier albums (pics), if they have one. Click on my name on this post to see mine.

I use a stereo scope I got off of ebay for cheap (130.00) for my birthday. I just stck my old digiral cam up to the lens to get the shot. I also use my own ambient light source (a lamp) it's bootleg but it works, for cheap.

What I like about the Qx5 is its not only cheap($79.00), but easy. Just stick the coin under it and it shows on the PC screen. No squinting through a scope. If you like what you see, just click on the snapshot ICON, No separate camera. It even has its own built in light source. Only problem is, the resolution isn't as good as I would like. Shing's pics are always crystal clear. RPMs for example don't show up as well with the QX5.

Hi Meridian - I'm new here too. Didn't see an answer yet to your question re: pictures, but usually within a given thread if there are pictures posted you'll see a thumbnail and/or URL which you can just click on to open the photo. Hope that helps...!

Welcome meridian. I have used the scope mentioned above and it works very good. I also have a microscope and a 30x loop that I use most the time.
