Hi:
Heidi found this one last night in a bank roll. There are a few still out there that escaped the bag/roll hoarders!
thx

Very nice. Even though a lot of these were saved from general circulation, it is still a nice doubled die obverse.

Lets start a little argument. Was this doubled die produced using a single squeeze hubbing machine?

Remember, this is the grey area in between multiple hubbing and single squeeze hubbing. Also remember that here is a second obverse die with a doubled die.

I would argue that this was produced witha multiple squeeze hubbing press.

Congratulations Heidi and Roger. Another great roll find.

As far as whether this DDO was made with the single hub process, I tend to think it wasn't, but if it was ever poven that it was I wouldn't be surprised. I'm still trying to wrap my understanding around how the 2006 DDO happened with the single hubbing process.

Im wondering why BJ presented this question? I'd say single squeeze! I dont remember anyone talking about the multi squeeze process in 95'..hmmmmmmmmmmmm..

I would say it was produced with the single squeeze process based on what I read BUT On further reading it says that the single squeeze process was introduced in 1987 but not totally implemented
on the cent until 1997. MY correct answer should be .... It could be a multiple SQUEEZE Hubing process.

Congrats Heidi!

STILL looking for my first on this one.
Can't understand why this coin is so hard to find compared to way scarcer coins that I've already found?

Maybe you need a 1995 copper magnet . I am sure you will find one Chuckster. This one is not too easy to find. Been searching 3 years for this one. Congrats Roger on a great find.Kudos to HEIDI.

Excellent find Heidi... Congrats... The single squeeze hubbing started in 1999 for the LCs... That is if my memory is working... LOL!!!

The reason that I presented this possible argument was to see how this community felt about just when the single squeeze hubbing system was implemented.

The statement from the mint stated that it began in a period before 1986 on some working dies. Full implementation was in 1997 when the half dollar was finally hubbed with the single squeeze method (the SBA dollar coin, because of its size was not a problem).

Oddly enough, I found a 1995P Lincoln cent with extra column, which is associated with the single squeeze system. Also remember that the 2004P nickel known as the handshake nickel had a rather large DDO which involved the peripheral letters on that die. So did the 2004P Lincoln cent with a DDR (actually two, which I both found).

My point is that there is a grey area from 1985 to 1996 that we cannot tell whether a doubled die was made from the single squeeze system or the multiple hubbing system.

Thanks B.J for making that point. So the coin between those dates have to be carefully examined. I will make a special note of this going forward.
