Of all the searching and attributions I have done, I only know of 3. Of course, not a lot of folks tend to search the eye area of more modern cents. There very well could be lots more of these out there. I am hoping to find one soon also.

The best I can remember was earlier this year. Some time around February. I do remember reading about it, but where??????

I didn't read it in coin world. It could have been a post on another website. Like I said I don't remember where I saw it but I remember the Double Eyelid. I guess I need to search my 92's again. :LOL_Hair:

I added it to the coppercoins website on April 21st, 2008. It was on the coppercoins forum, and maybe even the CONECA forum just before that. I think the time frame of its discovery is correct...I believe it was reported in February.

Posted on CONECA Site Jun 14th 2008. BJ Neff is the one that reported the find and Dr Wiles verified and attributed. The story on CONECA is past the 1917 Doubled Dies of Bob's about 12 articles past his story. Joe

This variety was reported about 6 or so months ago. Surprising it was missed or not questioned prior to that.

I did the first story on this DDO and if I remember right, it was March of this year?. It originated over in Coppercoins forum.

Mustbebob, how do you and Chuck price something like this? With only about 5 found (so far), it seems it would be at a higher value than $22.00 for a MS-65.

F...................3.00
VF..................5.00
EF..................7.50
AU..................10.00
UNC.................13.00
MS63................17.00
MS65................22.00

Oh yeah, will the 1988-006 RDV ever make it to coppercoins.com?

As far as the pricing goes on coppercoins, that whole process is very subjective. When a new variety is found, we normally start with the coins value in circulated or mint state condition, and add a few bucks too it. After a while, I will do auction searches and ask around in coin shops, forums etc. to see what they are going for. I will adjust prices if there is a significant enough difference between what I have listed and the info I receive.
In the case of this 1992, it is still a relatively new find. I have no idea how many are out there, but I can take a guess based on the die state of those I see. This one has made it to at least MDS, so there may be hundreds of thousands out there. I have neither the time nor energy to follow the pricing on all these coins every day. The MS65 price for a plain 1992 cent today is about 20 cents with over 4 1/2 BILLION struck. $22.00 for this variety at this point is a rather substantial premium...Don't you think?
As time goes on, I will gather data and adjust the prices. That's where folks like you come in because I get that data from you. We have the standard caveat on the site which states the price guide is NOT a buy/sell price, but merely a guide. Supply and demand is what determines how much someone is willing to buy, or sell the coin for.

As far as the RDV...we do not have a section for coins like that, or the Wide AM's. We are still in the process of updating the coppercoins site, and when that is complete, we will have an area for coins like that, and some of the others we don't list now. Chuck is working on the upgrade, but time is at a premium for him also. I will keep you posted.

I hope this answered your question. I get lots of emails each week about some of the pricing on coppercoins. That is why we have the caveat. There just isn't enough hours in the day for me to address the pricing while I am still working a full time job, and doing attributions and other coin related stuff during the time I'm not working or sleeping. I hope you understand.
