I came across this 1983 cent exhibiting a die crack extending rim-to-rim and through the letters "ST" of TRUST. I was wondering does anybody have the cud (or is it listed/illustrated in the cud book) that would mate up with it?

The reason I ask is I find them interesting and like to collect both the before and after it becomes a cud. For example, the next two photos are of a 2000 cent with the first showing the rim-to-rim die crack below the bust. The next photo is now where it broke off and became a cud. The red arrows in the two photos point to the exact same three die gouges (small dots) that are on both coins which prove this is the same obverse working die.

Regards,
Billy (dvn)

The markers sure seem to be in the same position Billy. Great observation. Thanks for sharing.

That's very cool. I think I found my first a few months ago and its a 1983, I believe. It is near the same place that your 2000 exhibits, though. Sorry I was unable to help, Billy.

Very Cool Billy, Do you like other die progression sets? I've got several 5+ coin sets of gunk/debris dramatically struck thru the date of some 1959 cents, and progressions for some die bolder die chips and BIEs. Really fun to find them in OBWs, then it's pretty easy to notice the progression. I think these type of sets are excellent learning tools.

Billy, I have a few 1983 Cuds, but not with the cud through UST. I have a couple of 1983 cuds that look like your 2000 cent...almost exactly. It is possible it never made it to cud status.
