Hard to say about the rarity. Typical die life is a million coins. I think we have seen until MDS, not sure if we've seen a LDS. Since we have seen MDS, I guess I could guess there are 500,000 or so. Of course, we haven't found all of them yet, but I'd say we know of somewhere around 100 by now at least. We will slowly get them out of circulation. But this is just an educated guess. Nice find.
Wendell Carper It's a bird! It's a plane! Aw nuts... It's merely two die scratches!
Overall I don't think too many have been located and as with some varieties it depends on location. An avid variety collector who lives in NC has come across quite a lot of them from searching circulated rolls from banks while I'm in the next state south of him I seldom come across one.
As far as how many may have been produced I would agree Wendell's calculations are probably in the ball park for this variety.
You can make that 101, I have one but will say I've searched an awful lot of 2006's to find it...and have seen only one on the other forums I frequent.
I have found, and sold 39 examples myself. The Boxes all came from the Tallahassee Florida area. I also have 3 in my personal collection. From what I have personally laid eyes on, and have seen posted on forums and other sites, the number would be well over 1000 found.
