View Full Version : 2004 1c CDDR-011 "Extra Arch" Variety
This is another one that I have been trying to acquire in my personal collection. Thanks again to Errorcents for hooking me up with a nice specimen. It appears this is another one of those varieties that can be found in a certain geographical area while in other areas quite difficult to come across one.
It is assigned in my "C" files as 2004 1c CDDR-011 and in John Wexler's "W" files as WDDR-007 and is illustrated on Wexler's, "Best of the Memorial Cent Doubled Dies" web page. I checked Coppercoins site but was unable to find a listing. Though it is not a major doubled die, in my opinion, I believe it is still an interesting one which exhibits very prominent remnants of an extra column arch and a partial section of the Memorial ceiling within the upper bay #6. These remnants are quite visible with a low power loupe. Bottom photo is the same as the top photo but with a transparent overlay placed over the doubled remnants indicating a perfect match.
Good luck in your collecting and searching endeavors.
Regards,
Billy (dvn)

I always loved that doubled die, and was really excited when I found my own example!

Seriously... Why don't you guys just share your camera settings, angles, lighting and distances. Very outstanding pics, Gentlemen. I think I speak for the rest of the community when I say that we should all take such beautiful, clear shots.
Have a great night.

I would say Billy is the gold standard for variety photography and have always tried to emulate his shots. .

Billy's, Bob's and your photography Jason are as good as it gets. All 3 of you motivate me to learn more and improve my photgraphing skills. Billy's overlays are always awesome.

Rather than start a new thread. Thought I'd just add to this one. Found this one searching hand rolls today. I know, my photos don't even come close to looking as good as those above:(
I noticed a small die chip above the FG. Would this be a marker for the CDDR-011.

Thank you very much...
Photos are super and congrats on your find!!!
Yes, the die chip above the FG is the key reverse die marker.

I have one of those doubled dies here somewhere, but after an hour of searching, I have given up (for now). I thought I photographed it for coppercoins, but I can't find those either. A....I either don't have it, or B..... I am hallucinating. I am thinking 'B'.

It's probably in Bob's Copper Warehouse #3, Isle #7, to the right of the isle, fourth shelf from the bottom, in the red ring binder, page #9, second row from the bottom and fifth slot to the right. Hope that helps Bob. :LOL_Hair:

The Raiders of the Lost Arc box got all those nasty little creatures coming out of it. Gotta call the exterminator again.

Well, I give up. I couldn't find it. Maybe I was just thinking of one of these two. The first is a 1972D, and the second is a 1993D.
