Recently LCR forum member Jeremy Gardner (OCD) submitted a 2001-D Lincoln cent. After a detailed examination of the coin it is a new listing in my "C" registry files now officially assigned as 2001-D 1c CDDO-001. This variety exhibits very prominent doubled remnants of a secondary earlobe south of the primary ear.
Attached are a couple of photos of Gardner's coin. Bottom photo is with a transparent overlay superimposed on the raised remnants matching perfectly.
We will have more photos on Gardner's new listing in the next July 2011 DVN #26 issue. Congratulations go to Jeremy Gardner on a very nice find for variety collectors during their searching endeavors.
