Hey all I just found a neat little error in my searches. Would you call this a grease filled die??? If not what would I label it as??:LOL_Hair:

Looks like another weak strike.

Is a weak strike considered an error?

Definitely a 90s era cent struck through grease. The planchet striations (little lines) that you see in place of the missing detail is one of the easier to recognize diagnostics.

If it were a very weak strike (much less common that struck through grease) you'd see a uniform weakness in all die detail. "WE" wouldn't stick out clearly, it'd be nearly obliterated like most of the rest of the motto.

Not from me. LOL.

It could still be that grease is the culprit, as there seems to be little or no signs of a weak strike on the reverse. In fact, if you stick around, the consensus will likely be grease. (Let's see.)

Greaser is my thought.

I agree this shows a struck through grease as CW pointed out. The lines on the die is confirmation. At first I thought it could be a weak strike but on further investigation I have to
say greaser. I went as far as koinpro's site for the comparison.

I go with greaser because the rims are built up.

Post 92 unless of course it is a 92D... Now that would @$%#... LOL... It's a CLAM and thru a little research we could get closer to the date based on the OBV/REV design changes!!!

Thanks all! I went back in and held it under a lighted magnifier and rocked it back and forth. I ( Believe ) I see the date barely as 2000. Thanks for the id! Thats what I enjoy about this site. Helps me learn and get info on coins I don't know what they are!:)

A weak strike will not have a normal reverse with a weak obverse and visa-versa. SO, it is a grease strike. Both weak and grease strikes are considered error coins, with the weak strike being the less common of the two.

Im thinking a 2000 cent here. I have many different years and the 2000 seems to be the only one ive seen in person that would have this much grease in all 4 years. This is just based on my own finds. Yours might be different. From 95-2000 ive seen filled dates but 2000 is usually the worst of the worst.

Yes Atarian I am almost positive you are right. I rocked it back and forth under a light and believe I see a faint indention of 2000!:)
