well california is ok so far found this lc with extra large L you think just a hit or somthing worth keeping.

It looks like circulation damage. It appears there may also be a die deterioration ring around the periphery. Rolling machine damage can also cause the anomaly you see.

Tj, looking at the condition of the rest of the coin, like the 5 in the date can sometimes be an indicator as to what happened to the rest of a coin, like the L. Looks like a hit or similar damage.( to me, that is) Tom

TJ . I pulled your pic into photoshop. Notice that there are no other signes on thikness in "LIBERTY?" This appears to be circulation damage as Bob stated before. If you can see seperation between the devises or serifs in the letter's and most of liberty is fat, then you possibly could have something... Eric P.S. The coin looks cleaned!
