1998 D Column Issue

Hey all! I saw this and was wondering if you all know what it is and what caused it. Striations in last bay on right and what looks like to me a extra column piece on outside of last column. What do you all think?

My first thought is plating.

This looks like it's quite likely from the die polishing if the striations are incused.

I agree with copperlover. The striations appear to be polishing (abrading) marks (although they would be raised...not incuse). This would also explain why a portion of the last column is gone

Is this type of coin worth keeping or just pitch it back into the wild??

Die abrading is pretty common stuff. Probably not worth holding on to unless you just like the way it looks.
