Hi All.

I've got this 1972-S that has something funky going on in the motto. Has anyone ever seen anything like this before..? My first (and only) thought was die deterioration, but the anomalies are so uniformed and outlined that I'm just unsure.

Take a peek and let me know what you think.

Thanks for looking and have a nice night.

Though I am not a professional, I feel it is Master Die doubling. The pics are excellent, by the way.

George,

Chris is correct. This is from a doubled master die that affected probably 50% of all 1972's from all mints. Good eye though. Most people don't even pick up on this.

Yep. agreed. Nice looking coin though. I would keep it as a very nice example of the 1972-S MDD.

Too funny, I just pulled a 72-S with nice MDD yesterday to save in case anybody had any doubts or just needed to see it.
