Just taking a shoot in the dark with this 1972 to see if it may match up with the reverse of 004. It has the normal master die that most 72's have, any thoughts?

That looks close but not quite right..here is a pic of the real deal.

Is it me or is my picture not attached...tried to edit and add again but message says it's already attached ?

I've got a pic of the #4. Don't forget that most of those die scratches wear away as the reverse die advances with usage. Check DVN #16 for the article on that. Having said that, I don't think the primary die scratch running at an angle thru the corner of the left leg of the N is in the right place on your coin. Have you checked other markers?

Here is a few more photos I am trying to take clear photos but my camera sucks, guys. The markers match up to me especially above the letters one. I know it is extremely hard to match up markers with a camera that takes blurry photos but thank you everyone for trying.

How about the die scratches through the reverse motto and under the right side of the memorial base? Any of them there?

I think so, they're an abundance of die scratches. After I finish my homework I will post them to the best of my ability.

Those die scratches should run east to west above and below the memorial.See link below

This is interesting and I just noticed something..the pics Bob has on coppercoins of the scratch thru the N, does not exactly match the pics that Billy posted a few weeks ago. I saved Billy's pic to use as a reference, but now I'm puzzled.Anybody else notice ?

I think Billy's photo is of the die#4 reverse in the advanced stage. The die scratches are all but gone. Is this what you are referring to?

Rock, the major scratch thru the N is located in a different place...I have the pic, but I don't think it will post because of copyright protection.

Maineman, Rock has it correct. That is the extremely advanced stage. That is one of the scratches, there are more going parallel with it in the earlier stage(s).

Thanks Billy, I guess that just shows what polishing, wear can do.I'm used to them fading or disappearing but it almost looked like a total relocation and that threw me off.

Here are some more photos guys. I am now only 50/50 that this is not the exact die match. I well let the pros have a second look. Thank you everyone for taking the time to observe and all of for your well received comments.

Chris...could you get under the bottom right side of memorial ? That's what Bob needed and he is really one you want looking at this.

The die markers do not look like Mr. Piazz's coin. They are there but they do not line up to me.

Might be worth having one of our attributers take a look.I still wouldn't rule it out quite yet.

I agree. It could be just coincidence or a late stage die #4. An in hand examination could determine that. Good luck with it.

Chris,
I could take a look at it some time for you. I am not convinced it is the same die, but I can sure try to figure it out for you.

Mr. Piazza,
That is extremely generous of you. Sometime next week I will e-mail you to get your address and send it to you.
