Hello,

Not too sure what to make of the initials and base on this one. I have photos of other areas if needed.

Thanks for all opinions.

No plating issues on a '62. I'm thinking die deterioration.

Lara you might compare this link with what you have : they are examples of 1962 DDRs :

Agree with Georoxx, and the initials on some of the older ones are pretty bad to begin with

Hi Lucien,

Thank you. I did look there but wasn't quite able to or rather, feel confident with what I saw on my coin vs. the site. I seem to have been wrong on many occasions so I'm not quite too sure if this matches up or not, the initials on my coin doesn't seem as vivid as the one pictured on CC.

However, the left corner of the memorial seems to represent doubling, while the right side seems to represent deterioration. I do think I see some things happening with the lettering on both the obverse and the reverse, yet again, my infancy stage does not allow me to discern the differences yet.

It looks like a little MD on a well worn die.
Do you want to post pics of the lettering. If you think you see something, maybe more eyes will help discern what it is.

Lara the initials are not easy to verify but you could post united, america as well as liberty. These will help in attributing whether there is any separation on these devices.

Here are lettering from one cent and some from the obverse.

If you will note, there are raised lines (scratches or gouges?) below his neck line and in the field right of his nose.

You might have something there Lara. I might be seeing some notching at the bottom of the N in CENT.

Thank you Jody, that is why I'm asking. Not too sure yet. I'll wait and see what other members will/may comment on about it.

I would say this one has some potential but needs to be sent in for confirmation.
