Found this earlier today out of a mixed roll. I said I would post a find if it was something worth posting. This may not be worth it, but I didn't want anyone to think I was slacking or all talk and no action...:LOL_Hair:
I think this is on Wexler's Top 100
I think its pretty cool myself.
All the markers are there and did an overlay to verify MM location and date. Perfect match.

Are you kidding??? That is an excellent find and very rare RPM that can bring substantial premiums. It is one of the hardest if not the hardest RPM to find for the 60-Ds.

Congrats Rock -- outstanding find!!!!

Rock, any possibilities I could see the coin so as to update my B&W photos to color?

Thanks,

Just another random 1960 RPM, common by the thousands.... Just kidding!!! That is so KOOL! That's one that would keep me awake at night after finding it! RARE is easily applied to this baby!

Billy is correct on this one. I have two: One from the now departed Lloyd Hanson and the other of a random pic on e-bay. Out of hundreds of 60-D rolls searched, I have found = ( 0 ). Good Eye on a Circ Rock! there a little obscure even in BU.....

Kind of thought this thread would have caught your eye Eric. Thanks for the thumbs up post. I feel very very fortunate to have found this variety.

Way to go on a awesome and very tough find. How many rolls do you search in average in a week. Just curious

Thanks. I haven't had time to search much for the past 3-4 months. I may get to 10-20 rolls a week, sometimes less. I'm taking a vacation week next week and hope to go thru 3-4 boxes which would be a lot for me.

Rock was very gracious in sending his 1960-D 1c RPM-004 (CRPM-021) for allowing me to update my files from B&W images to much-needed color photos.

Below are a couple photos I took of Rock's coin. Even though his coin was a circulated specimen it is one of the stronger strikes I have seen with the remnants of a D/D/D west and west very distinct. Even the long secondary vertical bar remnants are visible as well as remnants within the loop of the primary "D" mint mark.

Thank you Rock for sending the coin and allowing to update our photo files.

As always... Good Hunting!!!

I never saw this variety that up close before, and now I wonder, is that a D/D/D or a D/D/D/D!

I never saw this variety that up close before, and now I wonder, is that a D/D/D or a D/D/D/D!

This is what I see with the use of overlays.

Top without overlay.

Next with a transparent overlay indicating a secondary "D/D" west.

Next with a transparent overlay indicating a tertiary "D/D" northwest.

Finally, all overlays combined with secondary and tertiary indicating a "D/D/D" west and northwest.

Amazing. This really is a very cool RPM. I still can't believe it's actually mine and I'm not looking at and drooling over someone else's coin.
On the side, I would give anything to learn how to do overlays the way you do Billy. I don't know how you get the secondary pics in place without all the other lines and stuff blocking the first pic. Thanks so much for sharing these incredible photo's and overlays with us.

Rock, it's not per se anything hard but it does involve a lot of steps. What you're seeing in the photos are different layers. The last photo with all the overlays combined is actually 7 different layers combined into the one photo.

When we get some free time I'll walk you through it. First couple of times it takes a while, but once you do a few of them then it gets faster and faster.
