Post or Pre damage??

How do you know if a coin was damaged during minting or after minting?? I have several of these and some look like they were run over with a freight train?? I posted 5 pictures in Photobucet for your perusal. How can you tell???

Yes, post strike damage. Most look to have been cut with a sharp blade. The 78 looks like its been run over in gravel a few times. The ability to tell I would have to say comes with just a bit of experience, research and questioning finds. Everyone here I am sure will be willing to help in the learning process. I know that is kind of vague but I hope it helps.

I guess you hit it on the head, experience. Does one just continue to send pictures for help like that?

Also, I just read about your little puppy. It just hurts my heart that some people can be so cruel. I hope the love you have given her will give her the strength and will to live. So very sorry. Leslie
