I finally got myself a proper magnifying glass, and wow!, what a difference.

So I was hoping to get your opinion on this 1970 S, the date looks like DD, but the word liberty and trust are so worn I can't tell if they ever did.

I need some profession opinions on this. Thank you everyone!!!

Here is the front http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/karahbell/Pennies/1970SFrontcopy.jpg

Hmmm...not seeing anything here. But, your enlargements are blurry so there may be something upon closer inspection. good luck

Does the "1970" look doubled died? in the 9 7 & 0?

Nice pics Karahbell. I was really hoping for you, but to me it looks like machine doubling. Especially if you are seeing the same effect on the mint mark. The mint mark up until 1990 was hand punched onto the existing die, therefore any doubling would not affect the mint mark prior to 1990.

I see what looks like MD on the tops of the date, there is another 70-S posted on here somewhere with the same anomoly.

thanks @gallengomez I actually didn't notice the "s" had any marks on it until I blew up the photo. Its hard to tell if it is a scratch or not. I just used my 16x magnify glass, the marks look a lot different than the marks on the year... the S mark is shiny up close... If the S is scratched and looking at the year only could that be DD? or machine doubling?

I know what you mean about going cross eyed. I have to take a break sometimes and just go for a walk to look at things in normal scale or I will get a headache.
My wife always asks me what I am looking for and when I show her she always says it looks like every other penny to me. She just does not get what we love looking for. At least my son does. He gets really excited when we get a error

I thoroughly enjoy looking at all the coins, my hubby doesn't understand either. He will never get into this or fishing, both to me are so relaxing and fishing is so rewarding to finally catch a fish. So I can see how coin hunting is the same way, just this takes more patience so far. One day I will catch mine! lol

We can throw in some Military Slang/Acronyms to make it more confusing/interesting but who would censor the post with the Military Slang?:LOL_Hair::LOL_Hair::LOL_Hair:

"but who would censor the post with the Military Slang?"

I should be able to help with Army or Navy...but then again I can't remember what I did last week so I'm not sure I can go back to before 92...still remember the military phonetic alphabet though:tinysmile_hmm_t:

Military shortness to prevent long drawn out conversations was always fun... But then there was always the person with the 10 million dollar words... LOL... With the military breveties used here it would definitely be FUBAR or AFU... LOL!!!

And for those who don't know...the F in the military acronyms above stands for "Foul" or "Fouled"...don't get your minds in the gutter:LOL_Hair:

Yes fishing has always been one of my favorites. Everything about it... love it. And you are right the memories are to be cherished and will always be with me. I think its fishing time this weekend :) And time for some new penny rolls.

http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/Appendix:Military_slang

That has plenty of military slang.
BTW, FUBAR means, according to this:

(US) Abbreviation for "F[censored] up beyond all recognition (or repair)." Sometimes "FUBER" for "economical repair".

Searched more to find AFU. Found that it meant...

All F[censored] up
