Here is a 2011 D penny that has a strange "doubled" looking border on both sides, and on the reverse has a strange darker mark at the bottm of the "shield" design on the left and right.
What do you call this type of penny?
here are all the pictures :|
Thank you!

Actually the "darker" marks I was referring to is the design in the shield "bleeding" down past were its supposed to end. Is this a type of DDR? see image http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/karahbell/2011%20D%20Penny/IMG_5000.jpg

and possible DDR in the U & N in United? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v213/karahbell/2011%20D%20Penny/IMG_5002.jpg

Here is the Reverse with some arrows pointing to the areas of question.

It looks to be die abrasion or die wear on the reverse lower shield and the dark spots look as though it may be caused due to the alloy mix or copper plating bath. It could also be from circulation use.

There are so many variables for minor flaws of modern day coinage that they cannot be determined by pictures alone.

I agree with Joe... These dies are well worn!!!

This is an effect of die deterioration.

So are these a dime a dozen? Or does this have any value? I also noticed at the top on the reverse it looks like there are two S's like a mint mark doubled at the top.... how is that?

Looks to be a die dent (anomly below the "S") and yes most coins with die deterioration are worth 1 cent each unless it is very unusual and strong deterioration which might be used by a collector for an example or study piece.:)
