I just found this 88, of course i flipped it over to see the reverse and low and behold no fg. I was wondering if any others have encountered this. I search 4 boxes or so a week and never found this.

I have ever once in a great while. I never thought about keeping them though. Maybe I will next time I run across one. I think DWK just found one yesterday. He posted it on another thread but don't remember which one.

This has been found in the past and this one shows that the die was heavily abraided. It takes a lot of searching before finding one like this. Usually a trace of the initials will be left behind. This is a nice find. Thanks for sharing Amosamos.

Nice find. As others say, they are found here and there but no as good as the one you have. It looks like larger die scratches around the area. Nice find.

Nice find and those I put up. I posted a 1979-D the other day which is a unusual year and there is no trace of the FG. On E-Bay the 1988-89 with no FG bring $4-6. Proably not worth the fees but a nice example to put up.

If I'm not mistaken, Cherry Pickers has a '69 listed with no FG and estimated value at $15. I don't remember which mint though.

Also listed in "Strike it Rich with Pocket Change, 3rd Edition page 51 is a 1969-D with no FG UNC $10.00, page 13 1988 no Initials stating this variety available on Internet for about $6.00.

So probably they are worthwhile in keeping if none of the initials are showing.

The one I found, I posted in the last post of this thread called "RDV5 or 6 You Vote".

It does have a smidge of the FG. The thread was started by discussing an abraded RDV6 thhat looked like a RDV5.
The thread ended kidddingly with the big time abraded one.

Here is the thread:

This abraded one is easily identified as RDV-005 by the good picture.
