I am pleased to announce that I acquired this really nice 1944P-1c-1DO-016/CDDO-002/WDDO-020 (Doubled Ear Lobe)from the original Discoverer Bob Piazza who found it in circulation.

I sent the coin in to be encapsulated as the "Discovery Piece" since this is the only known example to have been found and verified to date. The coin has also been attributed by Crawford and Wexler.

Again I want to say "Thank You" to Bob P. for letting me acquire this really nice variety for my collection.:)

It took a long time for this example to surface so no telling. (67 Years it had been lurking around):)

I'm sure there are a lot more. It just is that hardly anyone inspects the ears on their wheats.

Edited to add: Whoops! I just posted that and didn't realize I made a pun. Seriously, there was no pun intended!

Oh man, now that's just another one that I've probably given away in rolls of 44P I've sold. Oh well, I guess you can't find them all...Ray

My thoughts exactly. I have not seen him for a long time.

When :WVP-BS01: hits the fan over here he takes a little time out. I don't think he likes any of the fighting that goes on here sometimes. Haven't seen him since the Billy Crawford issue. He'll surface again.

Well, I am proud to have sold him one for his "Discovery Piece" collection.

Maybe Joe is Billy Crawford! Seriously, has anyone here ever seen them in the same place at the same time??? Sorta like Clark Kent and Superman? Both former military guys with monster collections of Lincoln cents, distinguishable only by a pair of glasses or red cape?

I highly doubt Joe is Billy but wouldn't turn down the idea of Billy being someone else on here. After how many years he been in the business there is NO WAY he can just not do it anymore. He is for sure in the shadows somewhere. I only looked at this thread because I didn't look at the date. I thought Joe posted again. He will be back
