Formative Years Trails

I opened an uncirculated roll of 2009P Formative Years Lincoln Cents.

I found this example of trails on the reverse, trailing from the back of Abe's boots.

It is similar to 2009P(FY)-1DER-005T, but it is simewhat different and the die markers are absent.

Maybe it's a new one...



Note: there were 13 examples of this variety in the roll (1 was identical to this one and the rest are somewhat lesser examples).

That looks like a new one to me, although I'm certainly no trails expert. I love it when you can make multiple discoveries in a single roll! Nice work!

I am pretty sure this is a new one. It looks like Abe's got rocket boots on, or he's Hallowe'ening as Mercury.

Allan, I am curious as to what you mean by

(1 was identical to this one and the rest are somewhat lesser examples).

. Are markers the same on all the examples you found? Are the die states the same? The reason I bring this up is that the trails shouldn't change coin to coin unless the die state is such that it affects the devices.

I found 13 examples of this "trails" anomaly in a BU roll.

Two look exactly like the photo. For the rest, the trails are slightly fainter.
