John, I hope your wrong; but then again you could be right. Doesn't take long for the bubble to burst with all these sharp eyed LCRer's keeping track.

I have to say it definitely looks like doubling to me. I don't see any trails.

George, I like it. From what I can see in the photo's, I would say its definately worth having a look at. The thing is, I can't recall what the 1993 EPU normally looks like to compare. Regardless, I still like what you have and hope it's a good one for you.

Looking at it again, I tend to this the EPU may be doubling and the N in CENT may be a trail

Really nice George- usually when I open posts with titles like that I don't expect much, but you've got a pretty cool coin! (doubled die)

I'll put money down against anyone who says it's not. Anybody wanna wager a 10 spot? C'mon- I'm feeling onery! It's been a day and a half!

I agree it looks like a DDR. Let's get Bob's opinion. Hopefully he'll chime in. Good find, George!

Well, everybody seems to not like the idea of it being a trail die. LOL. Actually, while not the same die, this coin shows characteristics very similar to 1993P-1DER-001 seen here: http://www.traildies.com/id14.html. I actually debated whether it wasn't that die at first, but it isn't one of the listed dies. Additional evidence of it being trails is seen on the right cornice and especially the ERI of AMERICA. Another thing to consider is the absence of notching. Hey, just because it's trails doesn't mean it's a bad find or worth less then a DDR or anything. Certainly we have more trail dies known than doubled dies for the date, but it still is a really great find.

If I were a gambling man, I might take up your offer, Chris, on a referral to Bob or BJ. But then, I'm not. :)

I can't be sure, but I would jump on the trails die bandwagon here. We do have a few examples of this anomaly on the traildies.com site.

To me, the "o" in OF is clearly doubled (distorted); The second "S" in STATES appears similar to the one on 2004-1DR-002; and the EPU may have splits (if that's an absolute must) the pictires are not clear in that regard. The fact that there may or may not be a trail on the "E" does not wag this dog in my opinion.

If one of the attributers is interested I'd be willing to send it in. Can't find a match for this as a Trail Die either.

Sorry I came late to this party but in my opinion it's a trail die. Look at the R...see the points at the top and to the right?
Same for the letter B. It does look like a double die though...wow. You don't need to see long trails for it to be that.
It's best for Bob to have a look see just to verify just what it is.
It's great we all came together in peace on this one. George, this a great post! THANKS!!!
There is no right or wrong here just lesson learned...okay?

It could be a DDR with trails:) BUT, put me down for trails. Trails was the first thing I thought when I saw the pics.

I do like being wrong though- it teaches me far more than confirming what I thought.
