Colleen, it might be a plating issue or MD. The reason I say that is I found one almost exactly like yours about a week ago and under the scope with normal lighting it looked like a good RPM. But something just didn't convince me either. I couldn't find it on CC either. Then I put a very bright spotlight on it under the scope and saw that it was pushed metal, MD and not an RPM.

This is a good subject. I also have found several '88 and '89-D's like this. I finally figured they must not be RPM's either because I was finding them at 4 times the rate of all the other listed ones combined. Oh well.

I took me over a year in posts and discussions with bob piazza before I could start making sence of the 88/89 d possible rpm's. Once in a while I would actually find a 89.
Keep on searching.

Colleen, The second pic is nicer. It would be worth having a look at. Can you put it aside so I can have a look at it some time down the road?

sure bob im going thru a tub of stuff that i threw in there to look at twice and thought i would post some stuff i have questions about but i have alot of stuff to send to you little at a time :bigsmile: thanks everybody and again sorry for the bad pic i know that the front part of the d was pushed from when the punched the mint mark it was the split that made me look at it twice
