These things are haunting me! Is this just a clash and if so of what part? I seem to find all the odd ones :squigglemouth:

Those are die striations or die gouges caused by tools while reworking the die. Let Bob P. take a look to make sure or someone else chime in.

I dunno Daggit, looks like there are some structural defects in the building, I'd stay out of it if I were there!
Are the rest of us sure it isn't a die clash? I always try to figure out what part of the devices could have made the pattern behind or over the coin to see if any of it could match.
Thought I would mention the idea.

I agree with Joe. They are striations caused by some damage to the die. No premium for these.

I agree. Most of the time the striations have a proof like shine too.

Since these striations always seem to be in the same direction, it is thought that they maybe connected to the ejection arm sliding across the die face. Seems logical.
