Jean: Your coins reverse is "Struck Thru-Errors" and are collectibles. Could be extra Metal or extra Material. Nice example you have found.

I have a Lincoln Cent that is "Struck Thru Duck Tape" and graded.

You two are just too funny!
Thanks Jason and Joe.
Now, question is, how do I get it verified if I don't know what caused it?
I have lots more QX5 pictures, but I find them to be confusing at best.
Not only that, when I look at the close-ups of the pictures I begin seeing very odd things. My imagination can run wild some of the time... yea, okay, all of the time.

:~If you send it to a grading company, they will only label it as Struck Thru and no definition on the debris. Don't look at the real close up pictures because your mind will meander and think it sees what it doesn't. Look at the whole coin with a 7 or 10X magnifier. :D

This is the best I could do on the bigger is better idea.
Do take notice of that strong straight line on top of all of it.
In the negative image it appears all the strike through is below the lettering.
The color image looks quite different.
Hope you can figure out what it is.

Daggit, I thought they wouldn't let you near the mint anymore, especially because of that last incident with the bottle cap?

heehee,

Hey Thanks Richard.
I am going to join up with someone soon, just hadn't decided which organization would be the best overall for membership.
Will they go to the trouble of finding out what the anomaly really is?
I am still trying to determine what, but once I blow up the picture things get a bit blurry and the detail tends to run into itself.
Whatever happens, it is fun to find things like this.
Best,
JeanK

My guess is "cloth" but it could be something else.

I don't believe it is struck thru Cloth. See examples below on a Jefferson 5C. Note the weave pattern of the cloth.

Jean as I said before in an earlier post you still have a very nice example of a "Struck-Thru Error" no matter what it is struck thru by.

I am not 100% sure it is a strike through. It may be a lamination error, where a substantial portion of that area was affected. I am convinced it is a mint error, I am just not sure which one it might be.

Brad, it is an honor to be on your page.
Thank You!

Thanks Bob!
I think it is a mint error, but appears to be under and on top of the letters.
Guess I will keep studying it and try to determine if there is a pattern to the
space or just a plain old gouge or lamination problem.
Best,
Jean

Here is the response I recieved from Mike Diamond the Error Specialist and President of CONECA> (I e-mailed him the Reverse picture of your coin).

"It's a Strike-thru error. It may have been struck through a delaminated metal layer that detached from another cent planchet" I hope this answers your questions and as you can see no one can tell what actually the strike thru area is from.

Thank You very much everyone for checking out this strike through error.
And, if he can hear me, Thanks to Mike Diamond, too.
