Hi All,
I have a theory about how the 'die shadows' can be formed on a coin like DWK's.
My theory is, that when the blank coin is struck, (either by the old fashioned 'slam them together', or the new squeeze method) that the metal is thin enough in some areas to have the impression/depression of the reverse devices of the coin appear on the obverse.
Most of these coins I have seen have those type of lines under, and not on top, of the Memorial's devices.
Does this make any sense at all?
JeanK
