    1989 MD or DDO?

I'm still learning to tell the difference between machine doubling and die doubling. I'm know to look for the whole "shelf-like appearance" and everything, but sometimes I can still be hard to tell. I found this one today. In the photos, some of the "doubling" appears shelf-like, but it's mostly the angle. Couldn't match it with any markers on coppercoins, and I'm wondering if it's even a double-die..or just machine.

I'm still learning about posting images...thanks for your patience and input.

Nate it looks like MDD, however with the thickness of the date I would try and match it with markers on the CC site. This date is tricky for DDO's so let Bob take a look. I base this on your 3rd picture with the shelf like doubling.

I believe the whole thing is MDD. I would have to see it to verify that as there are a few class 6 doubled dies for that year.

It's MD. If you look to the East of the 1 and the last 9. The 8 appears to be worn or has taken a hit at some point. Joe and Bob are correct in there attribution.

That's what I thought about the second 9. It seems like the other elements that appear doubled also seem to have some volume to them (if that makes sense)...but the second 9 looks flat...i think it's because it was hit or scraped or something.

It is very concentric to the first strike.

The extra thickness of the lower right of the 8 makes me think its a DD.
