So you know you can't have rpms after 1989 because they stopped.doing them by hand. So any doubling on a mint mark after 1989 is part of a DDO. This is split plating.

Hey Vicki, I noticed that the subject was a 1994 D but the picture is a 1992 D, did you happen to check the coin for a CAM?

I keep hoping one of those 92's will be a CAM, but alas, they just end up being a plain ol' cent.

There is absolutely no need to feel stupid. This is all a learning process. None of us were born with all the knowledge we need for coin varieties. OK all of us but Chuck. Oh, and Bob. EGADS...I feel stupid.

Boy. I felt stupid for a moment there. I was having a hard time understanding what was meant by "Have you checked for a CAM?" I guess I need to re-immerse myself in coins!

But I bet that was before I was born.

Probably so, but I quit counting years ago....My Uncle John who got me started on this endeavor in the mid to late 60s, was the most knowledgeable numismatist I ever knew, or have ever met. Some day, I may learn at least a portion of what he knew.

So you've been collecting for nearly 3 times the amount of time I have been alive
Someday I hope to know a portion of what Bob knows! I had no one to really teach me besides myself and the people on this forum, so I am grateful.

I like this statement. It is great insight into the mind and life of one of our modern day wonders. Thanks Bob.
