Oddly enough, the regular S mintmark 1909 Lincoln cent in some cases trades higher than the RPM. It is a case of the horizontal S mintmark RPM being of equal quantity with the regular S mintmark version.

Wow stonecad, thats some awesome photo skills! I wish I had that talent LOL

Thank you everyone for replying so rapidly! You guys are amazing!

When I first posted this coin earlier, I didn't own it. I actually am trying to fill my last two holes in my collection. 09-S and 09-S VDB. BJ is absolutely right, the price difference between the regular and the RPM, can often be very little. In my experience, it has been harder to find a NICE problem free 09-S than it is to actually find an RPM version.

With that being said, this 09-S has the exact eye appeal I have been looking for to put into my dansco. I actually had no idea it was an RPM when I first spotted it on ebay. I have been watching it for about a week, and this morning I zoomed in and in, and noticed the s/s (it wasn't listed as an RPM on ebay). I would actually prefer it to be a regular 09-S (kinda a purist), but I have had such difficulty finding one that I like as much as the look of this one that I decided to buy it.

I purchased it right after you guys responded!

I know the price differential is nominal, but I paid a great price for it, and if it arrives in hand in the condition it is shown, maybe I will send it off to TPG, flip it and upgrade to a little better of an 09-S after I finally fill the last hole (S-VDB), because the look of that row may change.

            Thanks again guys!

If you ever do sell it, let me know. I am looking for a certified 1909 S/horiz S in XF or AU, preferably PCGS. Yours looks AU55 from the pics.

              Nice coin!

Brad, I absolutely will, and knowing that, I will make sure if I do send it out, it will be to PCGS. Thanks

Yep WRPM#01 / RPM#2 / 1MM-002 and FS-01-1909S-1502(012.3). Nice Shape. I still find some UNCs of this coin but most are questionable color..
