I know mint state grading is near impossible through images, but I would like to get a rough idea of where it would grade at.

A rough guess is easy...MS68

I don't see why it wouldn't go MS66 or higher. Hard to photograph that in-hand eye appeal. It's nice as are the pics.

I'd say MS66 or better, but above MS65, it's anybody's guess what the TPGs will do.

I would say definitely MS67+ . The only Flaws I saw was the steps and spots on the obverse which would detract from the appeal.

Would it really be profitable to slab something like this? Just curious.

They look like 68's from the pics, but there is no telling what TPG's would do and it is hard to grade from pictures. MS66RD+

For this particular year and mint, no. It's a nice coin, but it's not going to get the 69 needed to make it a profitable slab. With that being said, I've slabbed coins before just because I liked them even though I knew they wouldn't be profitable.

Its also a good way to preserve the condition of the coin. Nice find. I would go 67 or higher depending on luster. I think it has a slight weak strike or it would be higher.

I would guess 67. As for slabbing it, I paid $18 for my 68. Good luck getting a profit from that.

Thanks everyone. Wasn't really looking to slab it, just a reference point for other BU cents I may come across. :) I appreciate everyones input!

Scott...a good reference would be to buy some common slabbed dates on eBay....most can be had for a couple of bucks if you watch carefully. I guess the TPG would be more your preference.

That's excellent advice. That's what I did. I've actually picked up examples of some of the circulated grades for .99 cents apiece on Ebay.

Thanks, I'll look into doing that. Only graded coins i've seen in person has been proofs by a grading service i've never heard of.
I'll browse around ebay. :)

When I first opened the photos, I immediately said 67, then I realized I found myself saying... TPG will undoubtedly say 66.. the longer I looked at it, I can only imagine what it looks like in hand... I can imagine the look and I am confident IT IS 67+ but I would bet the grading fee it comes back as a 66 LOL

INCREDIBLE photos by the way, what did you use?

An even better and cheaper way is to buy an airtite holder.

I can't disagree with that. Some people like to have a grade beside it to instead of oh look at this really nice coin. It could be between MS66 -MS-68. Its all a matter of preference

My digital camera thru my amscope with axial lighting for the larger images. Thanks!

Thanks all!
I tried comparing mine to graded 03d and cant really tell thru pictures.
Whats an inexpensive date to get 65-68 for? I know anything above those will be expensive. Lol
