I am planning to attend my first ever coin show on September 15. The Cowtown Coin Show in Fort Worth, TX is not that far from where I live so my girlfirend and I are planning to go and walk around and look at everything we can. While we will mainly be window shopping, at least I will have a little knowledge from what I have learned here during the past few months to carry with me.

Thanks Simon, was not sure where I should post it. I have a large learning curve to work on.

Keep in mind most dealers are not current on die variety's unless they bring a substancial premium. (2008W Silver Eagle Rev. of 07)

I made my first ever coin show and enjoyed it. The highlight of my time there was that I was offered a 1909 S VDB for $150 but it was marked “questionable authenticity” so I walked on by. I only got to spend one hour there as we had to leave and go to my class 44th reunion, another first for me. Looking forward to the next one.

Glad you enjoyed it. I have yet to go to a coin show, hopefully the next one I go to I will meet some LCR folks.

I am thankful to be a part of this group as it has given knowledge I otherwise would not have. Like being aware of what might be too good to be true :O.

I once bought a raw 1916D dime fron a local coin shop for $300.. Gene (the owner) said he wouldn't gaurentee it was the real deal. After examining it very closely I made the purchase. Sent it off To ANACS for authentification came back VG8  for a nice profit too.
