Hello all,

I made a recent trip to Hawaii, and although my primary interest was in the native bird species, I picked up some bricks and sent them back to Michigan.

I was pretty astonished by one coin, a 2006 double ear!! I've found 7 of these before, but Hawaii is the farthest from the Philadelphia mint you can get! The 2006 double ear came from a brick that only contained 5 2006P's! Not only that, but this coin was by far in the best condition. Here are the results from $125:

Wheats: 49, with the oldest being 1934, but the best being a 1955S in AU/BU
1968-74S: Over 250, about 50/box. Normally I see 6-8 per box.

Varieties:
1972D-1DO-002
2004D-1DO-002
2006P-1DO-018 (double ear)

As a bonus, there was a 1979S Proof.

Man, I was in Hawaii last month and I did't get anything worth keeping from pocket change...what island did you stay on? I stayed on Kauai...beautiful scenery and exotic-looking birds.

I was on Kauai and Oahu. Yes, amazing birds for sure, or what's left of them. Nowadays, you have to go to very special places to see the native species. Most birds on the islands are introduced from Asia, and they outrun the native species. :(

Is it possible the 2006 dbl ear was produced in San Francisco or just got there through tourism?

No, it wasn't produced in San Francisco, but the possibility that it got there through tourism is very high.
