there is damage. But I just wanted to share this one. My thought was and as someone noted on a recent thread, was there are no modern RPM's. Please educate me on this one. It looks RPM. Or is it the damage that makes it look this way. Just that is looks like a clear 2nd D. Wouldnt have bothered to post this if my curiosity werent nagging me. Thank you.

since 1989, all MMs are punched at one place before final distribution. Therefore, no chance of RPM, thus MD.

The plating split, and then that split corroded causing the plating to lift and bulge.

The mintmark punches were done away with in 1990. The mintmark was added to the master die for each mint. There are a few isolated cases of die doubling impacting the mintmark in 1995 and 1996 - but they are not naked eye obvious.

yes, thank you shy. Just that it would keep bugging me if I didnt ask how this happened without damage really affecting the motto or rest of the design exept the obvious damage in some areas. I just answered my own question I think. DAMAGE. ...Im going to bed. Nite nite LCR!

Yes Jason I remember reading the mm punches were done away with, just that I needed someone to explain it better to me as clearly as you did on your initial explanation above (1st sentence). The corroded areas are obvious but it still fooled me! It'll stick to my brain now lol! I do have the 1995DDO where the D is doubled and your right they are not naked eye obvious. Thank you again!
